- ["Westshore’s $800M Potash Project will introduce potash export to the current coal terminal, diversifying the products shipped to market through the existing terminal. The project is part of the BHP Jansen mine development and is designed to ship up to 4.5 mtpa of Canadian potash, displacing approximately an equivalent amount of coal export capacity.\n\nRailcars delivering the potash to site, onsite storage and handling systems will be fully enclosed and the onsite potash handling and storage systems will also be covered or fully enclosed.\n\nThe project has undergone the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s (VFPA’s) Project and Environment Review (PER) process. The project’s PER permit was approved April 11, 2022. Construction is anticipated to start mid-April 2022 and complete Spring 2027.\n\nFor further details on the project, refer to the Potash Project Overview presentation available here.\n\n#### Project Status\n\n##### Conveyors and Transfer Towers: First Steel Installed\n\nMar-25\n\n##### Berth 2 Shutdown for Marine Works\n\nSept-Oct 2024\n\n##### Potash Storage Building: First Arch Installation\n\nJul-24\n\n##### Storage Building Preload Removal Complete\n\nJul-24\n\n##### Storage Building Preload Removal Start\n\nApr-24\n\n##### Potash Storage Building Start\n\nFeb-24\n\n##### Berth 2 Shutdown for Marine Works\n\nNov-23\n\n##### Additional preload hauling\n\nSep-23\n\n##### Marine Works Start\n\nJun-23\n\n##### Construction Start\n\nApr-22\n\n##### Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Contractor Selected\n\n15-Oct-21\n\n##### Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Proposal Close Date\n\n14-Oct-21\n\n##### Announcement of Agreement for Westshore to provide port services for BHP's Jansen Mine.\n\n17-Aug-21\n\n#### Project Permitting\n\n##### *PER 23-080 Additional Preload Delivery Approved\n\n29-Aug-23\n\n##### VFPA PER Permit Approved\n\n11-Apr-22\n\n##### Metro Vancouver Air Permit GVA0153 Amendment Application Submitted\n\n23-Dec-21\n\n##### BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy Effluent Permit PE-6819 Amendment Application Submitted\n\n17-Dec-21\n\n##### Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Request for Review of Berth 2 In-water Works Submitted\n\n12-Dec-21\n\n##### PER Public Comment Deadline\n\n17-Dec-21\n\n##### PER Public Comment Period\n\nNov 15, 2021 to Dec 17, 2021\n\n##### VFPA PER Application Submitted\n\n17-Sep-21\n\n* PER 23-080 allows Westshore to reduce future truck hauling by reusing the preload on site for future building expansion ground improvement. Instead of hauling a large volume of preload material to and from site at a later date, Westshore is relocating the preload material already on site for the Potash Project (requires no offsite trucking); however, a smaller quantity of supplemental preload material is required to be hauled to, and later from, site to allow ground improvement in the future expansion area.\n\nA separate permit process would be initiated prior to any expansion (e.g., actual buildings).\n\n#### Feedback\n\nTo provide feedback to Westshore on this project please email newcargo@westshore.com\n\nFor questions about the port authority’s Project and Environmental Review of the proposed project, please contact the port authority at PER@portvancouver.com or 604.665.9047.\n\nThe project’s PER application and permit can be found here."]
